We can see that an account exists, but not a single thing inside it — no messages, no contacts, no history. Support is mostly advice rather than intervention, so include as much detail as you can.

When does Relay come out?
No date yet. The download page tracks where things stand, and the waitlist there will get you one email when it's out.
Will there be an Android version?
Not at launch — one platform properly first. It's on the roadmap, but we'd rather say nothing about timing than say something wrong.
How do I add someone?
Share your Relay link or your username over a channel you already trust, or scan each other's code in person. Usernames are public, but there's no directory to browse or search through.
I lost my phone. Can I get my messages back?
No. We never had a copy. This is the cost of not keeping anything — there's no backup for us to restore from.
If the server keeps nothing, how does a message reach me when my phone is off?
It waits on our servers, encrypted, with nothing attached saying who it's from or who it's for. Once your phone collects it, it's deleted.
What encryption does Relay use?
The Signal Protocol — the same design behind Signal and WhatsApp — with a post-quantum key exchange and the Double Ratchet, so past messages stay protected even if a key is compromised later.
On your phone, the local message database is encrypted with SQLCipher. We didn't invent any of this, which is the point: the cryptography is the part you least want someone being creative with.
What does Relay cost?
Nothing. No subscription, no in-app purchases, no ads, and no paid tier holding features back. An app that doesn't collect anything has nothing to sell, which is rather the point.
Do you accept law enforcement requests?
We respond to valid legal process, and can only produce what exists: the email address on an account, and any undelivered message as encrypted data we can't read. No contacts, and no message history. See the privacy policy.
